Karina Skrzeszewska-Trapezanidou
Soprano
Karina Skrzeszewska-Trapezanidou, soprano, was born in Wroclaw, Poland, of Greek-Polish parentage. She studied at the Karol Lipinski Academy of Music in Wroclaw in the Vocal-Acting Department and in 2001 received her MA in arts.

For her Diploma Performance, during her final year of study, she made her debut with the Wroclaw Opera, performing the role of First Lady in Mozart's Magic Flute. Following were the roles of Princess in Zeller's Vogelhaendler and Mi in Lehar's The Land of Smiles at the Wroclaw Operetta.

She perfected her vocals skills by participating in master classes led by Rusko Ruskov in Sofia, Paulos Raptis in Athens, Ryszard Karczykowski in Frankfurt, and Ingrid Kremling-Domanski in Hamburg. She also actively participated in master classes led by Maestra Renata Scotto.

Since 2001 Ms. Skrzeszewska has appeared in concerts in Warsaw, Krakow, and Wroclaw, as well as in Germany and Greece. In 2002 and 2003, she made solo appearances in the United States, Canada, and Sweden.

Her professional opera career began at the Baltic Opera in Gdansk, Poland, where she appeared as Musetta in Puccini's La Bohème. During the last two seasons, she performed Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni at the Operosa Festival in Varna, Bulgaria, and she made her debut in the title role of Lucia in Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor at Silesian Opera in Bytom, Poland, to great critical acclaim. Recently, she sang Donna Elvira in Mozart's Don Giovanni in a new production at Krakow Opera.

During the 2009/2010 season, she will sing the roles of Lucia with Silesian Opera and Krakow Opera; Donna Anna in Holland, Belgium, and Spain; Donna Elvira with Krakow Opera; and Gilda in Rigoletto and Girl in Orff's Carmina Burana, both with Silesian Opera.

As frequent concert artist, Karina Skrzeszewska has a large repertoire, including major oratorios and song sets, especially those of Greek composers, including Theodorakis, Chadzidakis, and Kaldaras.
