David
Lynch was born in Los Angeles in 1961 and his entire
family was involved in music. He began playing music
when in primary school, where his teacher introduced
him to classical flute. When he became 15 year old,
he began jazz and saxophone lessons and he got a scholarship
for the Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts. Following
his studies, he went to Las Vegas where he continued
his jazz studies with musicians such as Garvin Buschelle
(fellow of John Coltrane and Ben Webster) and James
Moody (one of the greatest musicians of Be Bop). At
17, he orchestrated the musical band of the department
of modern music of his high school and he was voted
as the Best Jazz Musician of the Year, a title that
allowed him to begin his own career by playing in Las
Vegas. Afterwards he returned to Los Angeles, where
he took lessons on improvisation, harmony and composition
in Disc Grove Music Workshops, and played in various
clubs, studios and big bands.
In
1982, he decided to leave the United States for Europe
and, in particular, for Greece. In Greece he met a number
of remarkable artists. He was one of the founding members
of the jazz band Iskra, with which he toured all over
Greece and abroad. In 1986, A New Day was released,
and David Lynch played a vital part in the composition
of most songs of the album. His second LP was titled
Parastasis, was released in 1988. Furthermore,
in 1983 he took part in a festival and in a number of
live shows of Greek and foreign artists such as Eleni
Karaeindrou, Charis and Panos Katsimichas, Giorgos Dalaras,
Ellie Paspala, Eleni Tsalingopoulou, Culture, Joe Higgs,
Barry White, and others. Since then, he has been a musician
for a number of famous artists and has released a two
personal albums, Lit’l Song (1995) and
Wandering Home (1998).
In
1998 David Lynch, Stavros Lantsias & Yiotis Kiourtsoglou
formed the Human Touch trio, and released their first
album (Human Touch, 1998). Their second album,
Movin’, was released on January 2004,
by Libra Music.
